Veterans' Day

First: yay! Elections last week brought some good news! Democrats won both legislative houses in Virginia, won the Kentucky governor’s election, and made gains in Texas and Pennsylvania. Virginia elected its first Muslim woman state senator, and over 100 LGBTQ candidates won races across the country.

Looking forward, Monday, November 11 will be the hundredth anniversary of the first celebration of “Armistice Day.” Currently there are 18.2 million veterans in the United States, and the veteran population is becoming increasingly diverse in its age, gender and racial composition. Let’s look at some progressive ways to help this country’s veterans.
